Our
Projects

As ICF we have worked on many projects over the years. Come learn about some of the projects we have worked on in the past, our ongoing projects, and future projects.

Economic Contribution Study:

ICF urges the City of Flagstaff to work with us to design and implement a new, accurate study that would estimate how much money Native people and nations contribute to the city’s economy. Indigenous people who live, work, do business, and visit here are essential to the City’s economy.
We will work to obtain data that proves it!

Snowbowl Expansion:

In December of 2020, Arizona Snowbowl Resort announced an ambitious new Master Development Plan that would transform

Snowbowl into a four-season resort, greatly expanding its disrespectful and harmful footprint on this holy ground. There is clear evidence that Snowbowl and the U.S. Forest Service have been

out of compliance with existing permits and regulations.

The City government’s position is that it cannot cancel the reclaimed wastewater contract before 2034, because this would result in crippling legal and financial liabilities for the City. We will continue to work to build understanding of Indigenous demands and seek alternatives to this 16 year wait.

Unsheltered/ unsafe relatives:

Our relatives deserve assistance and understanding when they suffer from lack of shelter, lack of basic resources, human trafficking, intoxication, or mental disturbance. Police encounters that treat them as criminals and offenders are neither safe nor helpful for them.

ICF brought public attention to these issues with the second Indigenous Community Forum back in 2016. A direct result is the Alternative Response System currently being implemented. We will support and assist the city's planing for the next phase, which will focus on shelter and treatment based on Indigenous values.

Community Assistance Teams of Flagstaff (CATs) is a non-profit organization in Flagstaff that uses a custom-made shower bus and other services, C.A.Ts connects with people where they are to provide basic necessities and to help them address barriers to housing, employment and stability.

Indigenous Community Cultural Center :

For two years ICF has been working with multiple partners to build a community-based proposal, including a possible site and building leased from the City of Flagstaff. For this year our plan includes hiring initial staff, building startup funding, and developing an array of community-informed programming.

Currently we are hosting community events and meetings to gather to both hear and see what the community envision for the space.

We would love to hear you ideas and visions you have for the space

Indigenous Peoples Day :

Beginning in November, 2016, we organized and convened a series of six Indigenous Community Forums, to present City officials with testimony about what it’s like to be a Native person in Flagstaff, and our ideas for making this city a more just, respectful, livable, enjoyable place for all.

On October 10, 2017, the City Council approved a set of recommendations based on the Forum testimony. Members of ICF are working with Native people and organizations as well as the City

of Flagstaff to plan and to build capacity and connections and commitments in and beyond the city limits to implement these recommendations.

Based on the initial commitments and first steps that have been made, ICF and the City of Flagstaff co-authored a Declaration of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, which the City Council announced

on October 8th of 2018

Forums :

The Indigenous Community Forum process was established to have a meaningful, positive impact in the lives of Indigenous Peoples in  Flagstaff through dialog, collaboration, action, and policy, for the benefit of all.

In August 2016, the Flagstaff City Council directed its staff to work with the community to convene a series of forums focused on  learning more about the many issues facing Indigenous People in our community.
